Carroll Hospital Center and Frederick Memorial Hospital created Mt. Airy Health Services, a jointly owned and operated satellite medical office facility, to bring physicians, specialists and advanced health care resources to the Mt. Airy community.
As part of Mt. Airy Health Services, Carroll Hospital Center and Frederick Memorial Hospital share the medical office building at 1502 South Main Street and the Ambulatory Surgery Center at 1001 Twin Arch Road, both located in Mt. Airy.
Physicians affiliated with either hospital are able to deliver various health care services to patients in the building. They include primary care physicians and specialists in colon and rectal surgery, ear, nose and throat, oncology, OB/GYN, plastic surgery, orthopaedics, podiatry and pediatrics. And patients will have access to urgent care, radiology, a medical lab, CT scan, mammography, ultrasound and rehabilitative services.
The idea for the partnership began in 2006 when the two hospitals learned they were both planning on creating separate medical buildings for the Mt. Airy community and wanted to avoid duplicating services. The plan was finalized in the 2007 and an open house was held at Mt. Airy Plaza on May 8, 2008. As demand grows both hospitals expect to expand services in the future.
